Live Landing of Chandrayaan-2 On Moon's Lunar Surface | Chandrayaan 2 Landing Live Video
Chandrayaan-2 landing live updates:Everything going according to plan, Isro chief on proposed soft landing of 'Vikram' module.Forty-seven days after it left Earth, Chandrayaan-2 lander Vikram will decide on the exact landing spot on Moon when it would be 100m above the lunar surface between 1.30am and 2.30am on Saturday. If all goes well, it'll touch down 78 seconds later. Stay here for all live updates.

Chandrayaan 2’s lander Vikram and rover Pragyan are expected to uncover the mysteries of the Moon’s South Polar region. It will investigate the possibility of the presence of water in the form of ice in the dark region of the Moon. So, stay tuned with Financial Express Online as we bring to you the minute-by-minute Live Updates of Chandrayaan 2’s Moon Landing.

The rover Pragyan will roll out from the moon lander between 5:30 am and 6:30 am, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said. It will carry out research, including a thorough mapping of the moon's resources, looking for the presence of water and clicking high-resolution images as well.

Chandrayaan-2 Moon Landing Live Updates: If successful, this would be India's first soft landing on the moon's surface. Only the US, the erstwhile USSR, and China have been successful in landing humans or machines on the moon.

Chandrayaan-2 Moon Landing Live Updates: Countdown to India's first lunar mission
Chandrayaan-2 Moon Landing Live Updates: Chandrayaan-2 would look for further evidence of the presence of water on the moon, and attempt to assess the abundance of water.
Chandrayaan-2 Moon Landing Live Updates: In a couple of hours, Chandrayaan-2’s landing module ‘Vikram’ will begin the final descent to the moon’s surface from the nearest point in its current orbit. The ISRO said everything related to the much-awaited touchdown, expected around 1.30 am, is going as per plan. If successful, this would be India’s first soft landing on the moon’s surface. Only the US, the erstwhile USSR, and China have been successful in landing humans or machines on the moon.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the nation in wishing ISRO a success and said the mission manifests the best of Indian talent and spirit of tenacity. “Its success will benefit crores of Indians,” he said in a series of tweets.

The Chandrayaan 2 lifted off from its launch pad at Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota on July 23 on board the giant heavy-lift rocket GSLV Mark 3. India's space scientists had a narrow one-minute window for their second attempt at launching the moon mission, a week after the mission was aborted 56 minutes before lift-off.

The GSLV Mark 3 - ISRO's largest and most powerful rocket - is 44 metres long or as tall as a 15-storey building.
Considering ISRO's budget is less than 1/20th of USA's NASA, a success story for the Rs. 1,000-crore moon mission, which cost less than Hollywood blockbuster 'Avengers: Endgame', would be a giant boost for India's space plans.

India looks to create history by becoming the first nation to reach closest to the Moon's south pole as the Chandrayaan 2 moon mission is scheduled to land on the lunar surface after midnight today. The moon lander Vikram that separated from its orbiting mothership has already performed two manoeuvres to lower its altitude for a perfect touchdown between 1:30 am and 2:30 am on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Bengaluru and will head to the ISRO control room to watch the historic moment.

The rover Pragyan will roll out from the moon lander between 5:30 am and 6:30 am, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said. It will carry out research, including a thorough mapping of the moon's resources, looking for the presence of water and clicking high-resolution images as well.

The space agency's Chairman K Sivan has called Chandrayaan 2 the "most complex mission ever undertaken by ISRO".
